Charles L. Barry, DVM
Dr. Barry graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Agriculture in 1984 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. Aiming toward becoming a veterinarian since fifth grade, he has always had a gentle love for people and animals. In 1997, after a decade in private practice, he and his wife opened Lifetime Animal Center and began his mission of "caring for all God's creatures."
Dr. Barry and his wife, Denise, have four children, Madison, Mason, Miles and new baby Maxwell. The family enjoys several pets including the family dogs Deacon and Tulip, the cat crew of Nala and Sassy, and three horses, Gypsy, Jane and Prince. Dr. Barry enjoys family activities including softball, hunting, fishing, camping, cycling and horseback riding.
In his spare time Dr. Barry is active in the community with Grover Park Baptist Church, Rotary International and the Johnson County Christian Academy. He is past President of the Missouri Academy of Veterinary Practitioners, the continuing education branch of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Barry is also a member of the AVMA, AAEP, AABP and the Society for Theriogenology.
Dr. Sharon Keairnes, DVM
Dr. Sharon Keairnes grew up in Kansas City and decided on a career in veterinary medicine at the age of twelve. She graduated from Stephens College in '95 with a BS in Biology, and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in '99 at the University of Missouri. Directly out of school, she began working as a veterinarian in Las Cruses, New Mexico. She then realized she wanted to come back ''home'' and has been with Lifetime Animal Center since August 2002. She is a member of the AVMA and the MVMA.
Dr. Keairnes, her husband John (Smith) and her two children, Elizabeth and Connor, are happy to be close to family in the Kansas City and Columbia areas. In her spare time she enjoys horseback riding, camping, cars and family time. Her menagerie of animals include eight cats, two dogs, three horses and a multitude of fish.
